Retrenchment is the most demotivating thing that can happen to you in the workplace. We live in tough economic times and sometimes companies simply have no other choice but to lay off employees. For this reason, it's important to look out for yourself with our Retrenchment Protector. This benefit will cover you in the weeks and months that you look for a new job, ensuring that you can focus on your career path while we focus on your income. The Retrenchment Protector protects you and your family in the event that you lose your income as a result of retrenchment. The benefit pays you a monthly income for a period of up to six months.
  • Our Retrenchment Protector covers up to two periods of retrenchment, as long as you are employed for a minimum period of time after the first period of retrenchment

  • You can cover up to 75% of your income with the Retrenchment Protector benefit
How does it work?
The Retrenchment Protector is an optional benefit which you can add as part of your income protection solution on Lifestyle Protector.

You will qualify for a claim after six months from the start of the benefit. This is provided that you have been permanently employed for at least two years and have been employed by your current employer for at least one year. Once you have been unemployed for a full month after your retrenchment you may submit a claim. You will be protected for up to six months for a maximum monthly amount of R30 000 provided you remain unemployed over the period.
